Five Blues Lake National Park

International > N America > Belize

Description

There are about 20 climbs within Five Blues Lake National Park. One area has about 15 moderate routes within some truly amazing rock formations. The other area has a half-dozen climbs that stay dry in the rain. The climbs are difficult to find without assistance from local guides like Mario Perez, who lives in nearby Saint Margaret's village. A day at Five Blues with Mario will be a day you'll remember for a long time! This remote area is inhabited by jaguars and other beasts. You SHOULD NOT GO HERE WITHOUT A LOCAL GUIDE like Mario.

Getting There

From Belmopan, take the Hummingbird Highway south to St. Margaret's (Santa Marta) Village. Turn left into the village and drive down a road a couple hundred yards. Just before the road leaves the village and goes down a hill, turn right. The house immeadiately on the left corner belongs to local adventure guide Mario Perez, who is intimately familiar with the park and the climbs (which he helped establish).
