Access Issue: RAIN, WET ROCK and RAPTOR CLOSURES: The sandstone around Moab is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Also please ask and be aware of Raptor Closures in areas such as CAT WALL and RESERVOIR WALL in Indian Creek
Details
WET ROCK: Holds rip off and climbs have been and will continue to be permanently damaged due to climbers not respecting this phenomenon. After a heavy storm the rock will remain wet, sometimes for several days. PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB IN MOAB during or after rain.
RAPTOR CLOSURES: please be aware of seasonal raptor closures. They occur annually in the spring.
Description
Windy Ridge is a small crag located on the Wingate walls comprising the western rim of Kane Creek Valley. The rock isn't the best but the location and solitude are worth the trek. This wall catches a lot of sun and is a great option on cooler days.
Getting There
Park at the first kiosk after entering Kane Creek Valley and cross the creek aiming for a shallow drainage that leads up to Scorched Earth Wall. Skirt the cliff band following a faint trail for another five minutes before reaching the first route. A shorter approach begins on the old Mine Sweep trail but to access it you'd have to cross private land and apparently the landowners aren't happy with this at the present time.
