Description [Suggest Change]

Paint Mountain is quite possibly the most beautiful place to climb in the Territory. Directly behind you while you climb is Kluane mountains. It's an added bonus that the climbing here tends to also be phenomenal. There is also a HUGE amount of potential for new routes to be set. Get that bolt gun out!
The rock is magnificent granite.

Getting There [Suggest Change]

Head to Haines Junction from Whitehorse. 5km before arriving in Haines Junction, turn right onto Pine Lake Subdivision Road (or something like that...). Go along this road to the very end, which is a little cul-de-sac sort of thing with little trailer homes. Park here somewhere, but please don't block anyone's driveway.

What an awesome place! Zach Clanton and I spent a couple days cragging here while it pissed rain in Haines, we both are so stoked to have found out about this area. We had a little early confusion with the beta for getting to the climbs, as we followed the trail headed east and it took us to Orange Corner and not the rest of the climbs. We ended up doing a bushwhack following the cliffs to the Swiss Wall that involved Zach getting stung by hornets and is having to bail because of (what turned out to be... ) a mild allergic reaction.
For those trying to figure out the approach, to get to the Swiss Wall (and everything outside of the Orange Corner area) there is another trail that is behind the property with the boarded up trailer and teal shack that will take you to where you wanna go. It's a 4x4 track that turns into a single track. The enterence is blocked off to vehicles with some wooden barriers.
This area is awesome, the setting is phenomenal, and the potential is mind blowing. The only downside right now is that the hornets are... everywhere at the moment. Aug 13, 2017
