Stoja DWS

International > Europe > Croatia > Pula

Description

South facing DWS area. Moderate traverses, some that top out between 15-20 feet. Farther back in the cave are some harder problems. Frequently people set up a slack line over the water here as well.

Getting There

This is located on a peninsula west of the Pula center (~3 miles). See attached photo for the exact location and parking.
It is also possible to get here using public transportation. Bus 1 (if I remember) runs to Camping Stoja. Walk west from here on a road, then follow a marked path through some homes and to the sea.

[Hide Comment] I tried to walk to the place marked on the map and learned something worth sharing: The little blue marker for deep water soloing, north of the cave which is indicated as the rock climbing area, is located on a military zone and it's nigh impossible to walk there. Better would be to rent a boat (I think it was 600 Kruna per day) and drive over there.
Also, from what I saw while I was there, I wouldn't recommend climbing much in the cave because it's pretty dangerous back in there if you fall and get stuck there from the currents or dashed against the rock from a wave. Jul 31, 2014

[Hide Comment] There are two DWS areas I know of in this area. The pictures I posted are of the cave before the fence. Half a day's worth of climbing. I found the back of the cave to be pretty safe in low wave conditions. There is another cave on the other side of the military fence. I know people climb there. I did not. Jul 31, 2014
