Access Issue: If you don't want to cause access issues please make it a point to be on your best behavior.
Details
If you are coming up, note the following:
-There are no fires allowed anywhere, including the boulder basin & group campsites. -Please carpool, parking is limited, so if you show up and there is nowhere reasonable for you to park, you must leave. (instead of parking somewhere unreasonable). -Bring cash to park, lots of people showing up without cash. Even if you don't camp overnight, you still must pay for day parking. -Don't climb boulders in/ around occupied camp sites (some say ask, personally I just go somewhere else). -Spread out a bit.
Description
This boulder has some of the best and prettiest rock in the area. I know that is a grand claim. Perched on the shoulder of Black Mountain, it also has spectacular views of the San Bernardinos and the valleys below. It gets early morning sun but is shady most of the day. The namesake problem is a must-do, So Cal classic.
Getting There
Follow a dirt road northwest from the parking spot at the entrance to Boulder Basin. After a few minutes you will reach a clearing where the road ends and the Black Mountain Hiking Trail begins (ends). Walk north up a small hill for 100 yards, then a short ways down the other side to the unmistakable Tour de France.
