Getting weather forecast...

Description

This is a small mainly top rope area just up the scenic bypass road road in Salt Creek Canyon. It is just before Pole Canyon on the left when coming from route 132. There are 7 routes just off the road. Mainly a top rope area with 2-4 bolts per route. The rock seems to be volcanic and pretty hard, though I am unsure exactly what type. Most routes are short 25-30 feet long. Great place for beginner climbers. This area is listed as Choke Cherry Dike in the Maple guide.

Getting There

This is area is located just outside Nephi UT off of Route 132 on Nebo Loop scenic byway. Zero approach as the climbs are right off the road.

All these routes are in the Maple Guide by Knezek. If you're going to post these routes, you could do a way better job than this. Maybe a delete and total resubmit would be in order. At least a photo of the crag would be nice, not the dirt cliffs before. Jul 5, 2014

Neat easy climbing area, you can do the whole wall in under two hours. Its only a 15 minute detour on your way to or from maple canyon. The rock is the thing I think that makes this place neat, I have never climbed on any rock like it, but its sharp and will wear on your fingers pretty fast. Mar 16, 2015
As clarification, this crag is just off the Nebo Loop Road (FR 015), 1.85 miles north of the junction of the Nebo Loop Rd and Highway 132. It is on the west side of the road, coordinates 39.741 N, 111.713 W. You can't miss it. Room for parking right at the base. You can easily walk off the west side or walk up to set up for top rope. It is a narrow fin without much room on top. The rock is an unusual volcanic type rock that is a solid mass, bumpy with shallow pockets, but very few cracks.

I counted 7 routes, with the route furthest to the right (closest to the road) having no anchor bolts. The routes' lowest bolts are 10-12 feet from the ground. May 16, 2016

I'm thinking of taking our scout troop here on an overnight campout. Any primitive campsites near the cliff or up the road a ways? As I turn up the Nebo Loop Road from Hwy 32, is the cliff on the right or left side of the road? Dec 22, 2017
Brian,
It's on the left side of the road (west) and there's camping on the right side of the road about 800 feet further (north) up the road. That being said, you might find some camping near the base in front of the wall, but the camping further up is way nicer. Dec 23, 2017
