Muralla Blanca (The White Wall)

New Mexico > Jemez Mountains… > Las Conchas > (O) The Subdivisions

Description

Sunny wall in the big meadow at the left end of The Subdivisions. Features some incredible, slightly overhanging 11s and 12s. A couple lines that have been bolted, but not totally cleaned and redpointed, are marked with red tape. Full sun in the winter, full sun in the summer with a bit of shade at the end of the day.

Like all the rhyolite areas along the East Fork, the rock is a bit crumbly but improves with traffic.

Getting There

Approach per description for The Subdivisions and the trail to the wall is located on its left end.

[Hide Comment] So... what's the deal with the grid bolted cliff with almost all the routes red tagged? Aug 27, 2014

[Hide Comment] The description for the Subdivisions provides an explanation for the red tags, as the routes aren't fully cleaned yet. Some of the routes will have to wait for cooler temps to get sent. There are lots of other new lines in the general area ready to climbed and the three non-red tagged routes at the White Wall are really good. Aug 28, 2014

[Hide Comment] Any updates on this area (FA's, route names, route grades, etc)? Was out there and it does not seem to be red tagged anymore. I would be willing to to climb, clean, take pictures, and/or upload info to bring it up to date Oct 27, 2025

[Hide Comment] Owen: yes there is interest. A couple friends of mine climbed here a few days last winter. (I think for most of us..) not knowing if a climb is “safe” or “incomplete” as far as bolting is annoying at best. Oct 28, 2025
[Hide Comment] Climbed out here last winter with some friends, really enjoyed the routes and would love to see them posted! Oct 28, 2025
