Description
A granite dome shape climbing area. Has about 4 sport routes and another 4 trad routes with many belay bolt on top. Climbs range from 40 feet to 100+ feet. The dome is visible from the highway about 1,000 feet higher. There are some possible climbs on the approach up the hill. On the right side of the dome is a ridge that divides it into the "lower dome" (front) and the "upper dome" (right side). That ridge can be used to access the belay bolts to top rope the lower dome. The rock is poor on many climbs and crumbles loose. A fun place to explore but maybe only once.
Getting There
Park in a turn out to the right (south 178) about 22 miles up the canyon going east and about a 1/2 below the road sigh that reads "Boreal Rd, 1 Mile", or 5.1 miles from the Lake Isabella exit going west. Looking north you will see the dome at the top of the hill. Cross the road and through a barb wire fence. Switch back your way up to the base of the dome. You will cross a bike/equestrian trial about 1/3 of the way up. It may be possible to access the dome from the back in a 4 wheel drive vehicle on Forest Route 22S06. Parking Lot is 35.58188/-118.54104
