Aufseßtal Südwand

International > Europe > Germany > Frankenjura > Aufseßtal

Description

This is the large, south-west-facing crag that's a ways down the path and just past Anderland. The crag is obviously sunniest in the afternoon, but if you're here in summer, it will likely be somewhat shady due to the surrounding trees.
The 16 routes here are all easy to moderate and rather "sportly" protected, so bring along a set of stoppers in every route, just in case. Also, a helmet would be a good idea here since there are lots of loose rocks here which could hit your belayer in the head.

Getting There

From the parking area, walk across the street to the little restaurant and continue down the main hiking trail for between 5 and 10 minutes until you reach this crag on your right. On your left, directly opposite the crag, is a bench and table where you can sit down and enjoy lunch in the sun.
