Description
Some scattered bouldering can in or near the city of Folsom.
Above the dam, most boulders are within the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area's west shores, with the best close to Beeks Bight. These require either paying an entry fee to park a car here to reach, or taking a rather long trek on foot, hoof or wheel.
Other problems can be had along a scenic stretch of the American River in the city of Folsom, on both shores.
The main spot that I know of firsthand are short easy routes next to Rainbow Bridge, on its northwest side, not exactly deep water soloing, more like shallow water soloing.
Mind that infamous Folsom Prison if you go too far upstream on the south bank.
Old town has some nice eats and drinks in quirky historic buildings.
If you don't want to spring for that, the 'burbs everywhere have cheap eats.
