Description

180' tall buttress at the 2.5 mile post on the trail.
Enjoy a nice 2 pitch climb starting on "Easier Done than Said(125')" and then finish on "Banshee(60')" or "Midas Touch(60')"

Getting There

Park at the Trail's north end and hike in 2.5 miles or
a casual bike ride of 10 minutes.

Or,
park at Chestnut Grove natural area on Chestnut Grove Rd parking lot (GPS 39.948447, -76.432095) and take the turkey hill trail to the Enola trail that follows the Susquehanna river and walk south. The distance from car to Alpine area is about 1 mile.

The top of the cliff can be accesses via Chestnut Grove trail (10 minute level walk), but you must take faint climber's trail down southern shoulder of the alpine wall.

Is the Alpine Wall (tall wall) also known as Star Rock? Given it's proximity to Star Rock Farms...

Star rock farm is above this wall. But for some reason farther south is a wall called "Star Wall". Plus it has a bit of an Alpine feel, for PA anyway. lol
BTW, nice picture. Nov 10, 2014

I revisited the upper pitches this past weekend; thoroughly enjoyed it, but wanted to share that we knocked off a nearly brick-sized rock near the top of Midas Touch, which tumbled down through the chute right below, kicked out, came all the way down to the level of the railroad grade ~150' below. Posting this just to help other climbers know what to expect and make informed decisions for their own safety, and safety of others enjoying the area. Jan 29, 2018
