Sellers Mountain

Wyoming > Laramie Range
Warning Access Issue: To drive to Sellers Mountain BLM lands requires permission. DetailsDrop down

Description

Sellers Mountain sits by itself just south of the North Laramie River[location of the trans Labrador Thrust Fault] and is the north boundary of the melange of the Reese Mt Archean terrane. The rock is very sound granite, quartize, amphibolites and other metamorphic members of that associated green stone belt. The longest sport routes are 200' and climbing encompasses all aspects so shade, sun or out of the wind is possible.

Safety: Safety Trumps Leaving No Trace in this Area. You will find hangers on bolts.

The large Arapaho fire of 2012 burned into the east side of Sellers Mtn and stopped. see:

Getting There

Either drive from Rock River, WY. or Wheatland, WY. For directions cf: MAP 1 with you map destination the "S" in the middle of map, which corresponds to the turnoff on Garrett Rd at Antelope Creek. At this location start using MAP 2 if you have the necessary land crossing permission, drive 0.33 mile crossing a stream on a dam to a junction with the left going to a fence with a gate. After passing thru the gate[leave the gate in same status as you found it: if its is open leave it open & if it is closed, close it after going thru.] go north .5 miles angling left to where the stream and cliff meet and the road ends at a rock wall. Park Here and follow the stream to the Seller Mtn Summit region and climb. The landowners do not want their road rutted from driving on it when it gets muddy/wet. WALK IN, if the road is wet enough to leave significant tracks.

Without permission from William Sturgeon you can still get to Sellers BLM lands by the hiking method, described above just below the weather pics. See also included Land Status Map and Hiking Path to Sellers Map. To do this you will need a GPS with the proper crossing corners and bounding corners as waypoints and to figure out the waypoints a map showing land owner status would also be helpful. Tasky.

The Google placed label of "Seller Mountain" on their photo-map does not correspond what would be the actual location on the map for the summit of Sellers Mtn. The above listed GPS way-point is based on our selecting the point for the summit from their map and the coordinates numbers for that point were filled in by them.
