Description
Whitesides Mountain. The epitome of steep, long granite climbs in the southeast. If Laurel Knob is the "El Cap of the south," whitesides is the Halfdome. It is home to several ice routes that form up reliably; however, you will want to check the weather in Cashiers, NC before making the drive out here.
Most of the climbs are on the North Face of Whitesides with a few gulley climbs, some slabs, and the super classic 2 pitch WI4 Starshine. There are enough routes here to keep you entertained for a weekend, and reason to keep coming back for more.
