6 - Knight

Arizona > Southern Arizona > Mt Lemmon (Sant… > Mt Lemmon (Cata… > 2 - Bear Canyon > Chessman Area

Description

The six front-facing, sport lines range in difficulty from 5.10 to 5.11. Knight Owl and Knight Maneuvers are considered the best. The four traditional and mixed lines on the south face are 5.6 to 5.9+ and all are R rated.

The front face is shaded until approximately 2pm. The south face receives sun most of the day.

Getting There

Disembark and hike straight up the rocky drainage for approximately 15 minutes. The strenuous hike involves a small amount of scrambling but is over soon enough.

Follow the right branch when the trail forks near the base of the cliff. Pass the Bishop sector, including the low angle black streak that Nuts and Bolts follows and Cornickopia, the sport route to the right. The Knight sector starts here and wraps around the corner.
