Description

The main canyon south of the county road, divided into 3 sections - Near Wall, Main Wall and Far Wall. There is a long history of trad climbing in the Main Canyon with dozens if not hundreds of different routes climbed here over the past 35 years. There is little to no evidence of this, so be prepared for an experience full of the unexpected (from rattlers to loose flakes and lichen covered surface), and a taste of the good old days...

Currently the new (bolted) route development is being done in the more remote South Canyon, leaving the Main Canyon as a trad only area.

The Main and Near Wall are divided into 2 main tiers. The lower ranging from 50 to 150' tall and the upper being up to 300' tall.

Mitch Merriman and I did about a half dozen 2 to 4 pitch routes on the main wall in the early 80's. No bolts placed. We climbed most of the obvious crack lines on the main wall to the rim. Oct 21, 2018
