Closure of "El Caracol" Details
The area known as "El Caracol" has been closed to climbing due to damage to the the fragile plant community around it. Currently no plans exist to build a trail or reopen the area.
Getting ThereAsk the gatekeeper for parking arrangements, usually behind the "bodega" (small convenience store). Hike from there up the hill trough a sandy slope and turn back left when the trail becomes evident. Switchbacks will take you up some 800 ft altitude gain. Consider half an hour for the hike.
