Warning Access Issue: Limited access DetailsDrop down

Description

This area is on winter green property so climbing is allowed however be very sensitive about parking and walking around or near houses. I have limited info on names of problems ect because i was not the original person to find this area and put up the first problems. But there have been some new hard lines that got put up recently and a lot more around that can be done. rock quality is so so in spots and great in others.
Avoid this place in the arm months unless you are immune to poison ivy.

Getting There

Park at the location listed in the picture and stay off to the side the best that you can. you then hike up the small old road directly out the back of the parking circle. This leads to a power meter for a future house on the lot.
Before this is boulder 1 below to to the left of the road.
to get eh the other boulders you make a slight right at the power meter and head up the hill. you should be hiking to the left and up. this will bring you to a large group of boulders. Boulder 3 and 4 are in the left area of the boulders on the side of the hill.
Boulder 2 is slightly below and directly left of these boulders, so hike horizontally along the hill side to the left.

[Hide Comment] This area should be called Crawford's Knob. The main boulder field extends from Boulder 2 heading about 3000ft to the East. There is potential for dozens of very solid lines here and in other isolated fields scattered below the cliff lines. Rock type is nearly identical to that of The Forest (highly featured greenstone), but produces more highballs, especially at the Eastern extreme of the field. Hard roofs and big, technical faces dominate the area. As stated, there are no problems climbing here as long as you park where the original directions indicate (Gravel pull-off at the top of Little Stoney Close). I have been working on cleaning new boulders and putting stuff up but could certainly use some help/resources from LCOs. If a primary access trail were to be arranged by the Nature Conservancy this could easily be the best bouldering within an hour of Cville (just over 30 min from town). Message me if you're interested in getting some more specific Beta as I work on organizing things. Jan 24, 2022

[Hide Comment] Its always been very sensitive to access this area. Elliot, etc shouldn't have put up the area if they didn't want development. It is no more or less illegal that it has been in the past--I am simply pointing it out. Jun 18, 2022
[Hide Comment] The access to this area is through a private driveway though the boulders are still on wintergreen's property. Access needs to be updated or this area is off limits. Sep 2, 2025
