Per Elliot Wiecek: DCR rulebook: "Technical climbing, or mountaineering, of sufficient difficulty to require the use of ropes or other forms of specialized mountain climbing equipment to aid in ascent or descent, shall be allowed only in areas designated for such activity by DCR."

Description

This is a small area, that is still young in terms of development. It holds some incredible projects and a few established gems. The rock is a combination of gneiss and schist, making for some truly unique features and textures, sort of like a combination of rumney and great barrington rock.

Getting There

Take Route 2 west to Charlemont MA, a few minutes after going through the downtown take a right onto Zoar Rd., and follow it 5-10 minuntes until you reach Zoar Picnic Area and Campground. Park on the right in a large parking lot.
