Getting weather forecast...
DescriptionSanta Cruz is one of the most well known valleys on the Cordillera Blanca area, due to being home to one of the most famous treks (Santa Cruz) and of the most beautiful mountains in the world (Alpamayo). The area is climbable during the southern hemisphere summer, from May to September, when the weather is drier and long periods of sunny, calm weather alternate with a few days of precipitation.
Mountains accessible from this valley are Taulliraju, Quitaraju, Alpamayo, Santa Cruz and Artesonraju. Alpamayo gets quite crowded in June and July, other mountains tend to see much fewer groups throught the season.
Getting ThereThere are two main base camps in this valley: Taullipampa is used for climbing Artesonraju (maybe Taulliraju) and for most people doing the Santa Cruz trek, and can be accessed via Cashapampa (shorter approach, 2 days) or Vaqueria (also 2 days but longer). Alpamayo base camp is another1-2h walk from Taullipampa depending on which direction you are coming from, and is used to climb Alpamayo, Quitaraju, and some faces in Jinhihirca.
