Access Issue: TAWKROC Climbing Waiver Details

TAWKROC now owns this property. Climbers must sign the waiver before climbing:

Introduction

This is a classic climbing area with a mix of sport and trad climbs. Most of the routes are single pitch, but there are a handful up to three pitches long.

In 2016 this area was purchased by the non-profit society TAWKROC (The Association of West Kootenay Rock Climbers). They maintain it and keep public access open. The 18-acre property boasts 100-metre-high cliffs and is surrounded on 3 sides by suburbia, it is therefore imperative that climbers be respectful of our neighbours:
• Park off Sahlstrom Road near the base of the trail to Open Book Wall
• Please sign the waiver every year and consider becoming a TAWKROC member for only $10 annually here
• Keep noise to a minimum. The base of Kinnaird acts as an amphitheater and the neighbours hear everything climbers say.
• Stay on established trails.
• Stay off of private property and out of people’s back yards.
• DO NOT cross the empty lot below Hail Mary Wall. There is a new trail over from Yellow Sling Wall.

From Highway 22 turn uphill onto 37th Street, follow this for just over 1km then turn right and park on Sahlstrom Road.
