Description

This is a larger collection of boulders that encompass a vast range of size and quality. You'll get everything from fun and tall to steep and uber hard. Rock quality is on the coarse side, but nothing close to west woods.

This is still a relatively new area with first ascent potential, so bring a wire brush.

During most of the year climbing involves a 1.5-2 mile hike in along a forest road, however, the DEEP does open the gate for periods(hunting season?) allowing people to park within 5 minutes of the boulders.

Getting There

access via Grassy Hill Road in East Lyme. Use a dirt pull-off for when the gate is closed

I headed out there today in search of these boulders. I found what I think was fisticuffs and the "pizza and meatball" boulders, but after that the directions got a bit..nonexistent. There's two paths that diverge from the main forest road as well as the option of continuing down the main trail. I took a shot with one of the paths with no luck and decided it'd be better to see if anyone who's actually been here could lend some help. I live in Lyme so it'd be awesome to find some local stuff to climb on. Jul 20, 2016

I'm a little confused- looking at the map on ct.gov of the East Lyme block of the forest, I see a forest road going north and forest road going south from Grassy Hill Road. If I want to find these boulders, should I travel north or south, or both? Feb 27, 2015
