Description
Scab Slab is so named for the scabby thin exfoliation flakes common on untouched granite. Fun short slab climbs in the 5.10 range or so. Looks pretty low angle from above and below, but the climbing is actually quite good.
Probably the most fun I've had in one spot in the San Gabes while on a rope. If you're a strange and often depressing slab guy like me, you might dig it.
We believe we are the first to really climb this crag, due to all the granite peeling off on the first times up. If not, no biggie, it's only rock climbing. If it turns out this formation has a name and somehow people have climbed the lines without breaking off the tiny fragile flakes all over the thing, please let me know by yelling at me on this page Mountainproject-style, as if I had just been caught committing a heinous crime. Or, be nice and let me know and provide some documentation.

Getting There
Hike directly south from the Main Area, down into a gully and up the other side. See the GPS coordinates for the crag. There is a series of trails heading south through the Manzanita from the short 5.6ish crack on the slab next to the trail on the southern edge of the Main Area. Unfortunately, the way is not terribly obvious and maps of the area can be difficult to come by.
