Description

Located directly across the Saddlback Lakes from the popular Elephant's Perch, Chipmunk Perch lies on a ridge connecting it with two other "perches" (Goat Perch and Eagle Perch).

The climbing is fun, but a bit more adventurous than climbing on the Elephant's Perch. Expect route finding challenges and some loose rock, as these routes are much less traveled.

Getting There

The approach to Saddleback Lakes is the same as for Elephant's Perch: Take the shuttle or trail to the far end of Redfish Lake. Follow the good trail for approximately two miles to a point where an unmarked, but well traveled, climbers trail cuts off left. This point is a short distance after crossing a small footbridge. Almost immediately you will be forced to cross Redfish Lake creek. After crossing the creek the trail fades in and out among some rock slabs before becoming more defined and heading steeply up the drainage toward Saddleback Lakes. There are many great camp spots near the lakes that are a short distance from the start of all routes.
