A-Wall

Washington > Okanogan > Mazama > Fun Rock & Nearby Crags

Description

This is a newly developed area, so be careful of falling rocks when rappelling or going off route. It is advised to wear a helmet while climbing, belaying, or sitting at the base of the climbing area.

Rest and belay areas are shaded while most of the climbs are in the sun.

A 60 meter rope is sufficient, but tie a knot at the end of the rope as a safety precaution as a couple routes will require the entire length of the rope.

Note: I have not yet climbed the routes, but using this as a placeholder for my next visit. Any updates appreciated.

Getting There

Follow the trail up from Fun Wall. At the sign for A-Wall, follow the trail up and to the left on top of a small crag. Continue on the trail probably another 100 yards.

[Hide Comment] This area is starting to become overgrown and dirty. There's a few good lines up here, but the trail is faint (but well-cairned) and the plants (and rattlers) at the base are taking the wall back. Jun 24, 2018
[Hide Comment] The base of the wall has been Cleaned up. I have never seen a Rattlesnake at the A-Wall and I am the one who developed the wall and have cared for it since it's development. Jun 21, 2019

[Hide Comment] Awesome! Good crag to visit when it's busy at fun rock proper. My last visit (1 year ago) there was 3 rattlers in the A wall vicinity. I spotted 5 total that day, and photographed one of them. None were aggressive and all attempted to flee when they spotted me. Jun 23, 2019
