Rolling Stones Wall

Colorado > Durango > Pine River Trad

Description

The Rolling Stones Wall is the large chunk of rock up and left of Tradistan Tower. It is made up of the same featured quartzite conglomerate as found on Tradistan Tower and around the rest of the area. It is not the most aesthetic wall, but the rock is generally good-quality and provides fun climbing. At its tallest, the wall is ~800 feet. Keep in mind that you are in the San Juans, and be prepared to roll some stones and have some adventure.

Getting There

Follow the approach as for Tradistan Tower, then traverse along the base left, around the toe of Tradistan and almost past the Rolling Stones Wall. Scramble up left and follow ledges back right to the base of the wall proper. It is ~1.5 - 2 hours from the trailhead.

[Hide Comment] This is a pretty fun wall, watch for the bees. We have climbed two routes on this wall previously and have not found any old abandoned gear anywhere on this wall yet. Thanks for posting! Aug 9, 2013
