Description Suggest change

This is a really cool, lesser known bouldering area out east of Durango. There are a ton of sweet boulders in a dense forest and plenty of highballs. The rock is the standard sandstone of the Durango area and pretty decent quality. The boulders can be pretty hard to find, but they are worth it. All the climbing is on public land and the approach is about 15-20 minutes. There are also some large cliffs here that could maybe be developed, but the rock quality is not great.

Getting There Suggest change

From Durango, take Florida Rd. (CR240) east until County Road 249, where you take a left. Stay on that road for 10 or 15 minutes until you get to a gate, where you'll park and start hiking. After gate walk up hill for about 15 min the trail is marked by a cairn, follow trail for about another 5 min and you will hit a pond on the left side of the trail. Look immediately to your right the faint trail is now marked by a cairn. For a map and better directions, check out the Durango Bouldering guidebook by Ian Allison.
