Getting weather forecast...
DescriptionA nice area for pleasure climbing and also a well-known winter climbing possibility. In addition to the south-facing sector are some west and north-facing sectors as well.
The climbing mostly follows pockets with the crux for several routes found at the beginning and the climbing getting easier towards the top.
Getting ThereDriving along the B14, pass by Hersbruck and take the right towards Hohenstadt. Shortly before actually reaching Hohenstadt, turn right and drive to Hegendorf, passing through Hubmersberg to get there. From Hegendorf, travel down a gravel road towards Neutras and after about 500m you'll find a parking area on the right side of the road. This parking area is indicated in the GPS coordinates.
From the parking area (where you can also camp), continue walking in the direction of Neutras and after 30m the road will fork with a path marked with a red dot (it actually looks just like a Japanese flag) heading to the left. Go this way and continue about 500m to the forest. Shortly after entering the forest there will be a path that continues straight, branching off to the right of the main path as it curves to the left. Follow this path and the red dot markings for another 350m to reach Weiße Wand. There are a lot of trails up here, so getting you on the right one is very difficult. However, they all lead up to Weiße Wand, just to different sides.
The trails also lead to the Hohenglücksteig, the most popular via ferrata here in the Frankenjura. So if you're interested in a rest day activity that still involves some light climbing, that's a possibility. But please practice caution because this is also the place where Kurt Albert fell and ultimately died.
