Description

Located near Beach City, OH. Climbing during the summer is nice, but obviously being in ohio shoulder seasons are probably the best bet.

BIG WALL IS THE MOST POPULAR, however there are six other areas that are undocumented in terms of names, grades, and beta. If you know anything about these areas please contribute!

Thank you!

Getting There

From I-77, exit on the Strasburg, Ohio exit. Go through Strasburg on Rt. 250 & Rt. 21. After you pass through Strasburg, turn left on Chestnut Ridge Road. You will pass Soehnien Rd, and Kaylor Road, both on your left. The next left will be Camp Road. Turn left on Camp Road. Follow this to the Camp Road Gravel Parking Area, which will be on your left. This is a link to a map of the area: Beach City Map

The climbs at Beach City Nature Preserve are scattered about the 1,912 acre Beach City Wildlife Area. There is a lot of sand-stone bouldering and top roping potential scattered about the park. Sep 14, 2013

Is there any sort of database on this area other than MP? Oct 18, 2014
I went to check it out a few days ago. I've lived 20 minutes from there for most of my life and never knew. When I got out there, I saw a church group that had just finished what looked like some rappelling. There are 3 sets of bolts at the top of what they call the "Big Wall" on here. I'm hoping to go back and explore a bit more though soon! Jul 7, 2016

Coming in from out of town this weekend. We tried to find a place to camp, ended up "settling" for a priceline motel. Any suggestions for next time? Oct 28, 2016
My wife and I climb and rappel quite often at the Big Wall and the Dundee Falls Corner. Over the course of the next month or so I will be working on bolting some sport routes on the Corner, this area seems to stay the most clean and has some good route potential. If anyone cares to help out let me know. Jul 16, 2017

Looking to change up the scenery for the kids, and thinking of taking the 1.5 hour ride down here. What gear is typically needed to extend the anchor? Is it kosher to use the trees where available here? Sep 28, 2017
Was out there hiking today. Some of the top rope bolt hangers are missing. Will try to correct the problem in the next couple weeks maybe with glue-ins. Mar 15, 2018
Vandalized top rope anchors removed and some replaced with glue ins that are harder to get to (hopefully won't be vandalized). Should be stronger in the soft sandstone. Will add a few more as time allows. Three anchors per station, no chains, bring what you wish to use to attach to bolts. I recommend attaching to a tree for safety while setting up.
Thanks to Glenn Ritter from Connect Climbing for donating the bolts and for taking the time to install them and remove the vandalized bolts. Mar 26, 2018
