Access Issue: Seasonal Raptor Closure Details
Each year, Washington Climbers Coalition partners with WA State Parks and WA DFW to monitor the Index Town Walls for nesting raptors. When hiking or climbing outside this closure buffer, avoid disturbance, keep noise to a minimum, and use your best judgment to gauge and mitigate your impact.
These are smaller walls than the Upper or Lower Wall, and they lie roughly in-between the two. The rock quality and features are similar to that at the Lower Wall.
Except for Winkie Dinkie, all can be reached via the trail that starts on the NE end of the Country. Winkie Dinkie can be reached either by hiking in from between K-Cliff and The Lip (in the Side Walls Area) or by climbing to the top of the Great Northern Slab or Princely Ambitions at the Lower Town Wall. The Middle Wall can also be reached by topping out on a Lower Town Wall route further right or by topping out on Winkie Dinkie.
