Workman Falls

Arizona > Central Arizona

Description

Workman falls sits just west of the Sierra Ancha Wilderness and to the north of Roosevelt Lake. The rock near the falls is bullet hard quartzite of sorts that forms a westward facing horseshoe. Most of the rock is on the south side and faces north, making it a great summer area.

[Hide Comment] back in my non-climber days I camped at the Falls campground and hiked along the creek to get to the falls. Is that the approach, or is there a way to rap in from the road? May 13, 2020
[Hide Comment] An attractive area that boasts several species of birds and reptiles. The remaining healthy tree's are wonderful and scenic. The cascading falls adds to the areas uniqueness. Come for the somewhat serene setting and cool mountain air. The climbing is OK but the Red-faced Warblers, Painted Redstarts and Western Tanagers that are tweeting and flying among the treetops are better. May 1, 2021
[Hide Comment] Could I get more info on how to get there/the approach? And any recs for camping nearby? Sep 6, 2023
[Hide Comment] Chris take AZ-288 into the heart of the Sierra Ancha, turn off onto Forest Road 487, drive 3 miles, park above falls (rappel off your vehicle if so inclined) or below. Pretty simple.
There is some camping along the creek on the way in or a mile or so further up the road there is great camping where the mountain flattens out. Sep 7, 2023
