Description
Getting There
Playa Fronton and vicinity crags include Fronton Beach main wall, Sector Paraiso, Coconut Crunch wall, Genesis Walls, Sector Jerry, Contra Wall, and Cueva de Agua. Refer to the location map to see where these crags are in relation to one another and in relation to Las Galeras.
There are a few ways to approach Fronton Beach main wall, Sector Paraiso, and Coconut Crunch, including hiking from Las Galeras (about 2 hours each way), hiring a small boat from Las Galeras (about 15 minutes each way), or parking at a place called Boca del Diablo (AKA the Blow Hole) and hiking to Frontón on a flat trail through the forest (about one hour each way). If you chose to hike, it is recommended that you hike with a large group or hire a guide/guard to accompany you, as there have been reports of trail robbings on the hike to Fronton Beach. Bring more water and food than you think you'll need for the day, as it can get very hot and dehydration sneaks up on you in the seaside environment. Cellular service is generally nonexistant, unless you are on the top of the Fronton plateau.
The crags Sector Jerry, Genesis Walls, Contra Wall, and Cueva de Agua are much easier to get to, as they can all be accessed directly from the Cueva de Agua road and each have less than 10 minute approaches from the road.
