Main Cliff

International > N America > Canada > Ontario > Ontario S Bould… > Calabogie

Description

The most recognized and climbed area in the Calabogie region.

It has a great concentration of Sport, Trad and mixed routes with a couple of 'easy ways' up or down to established Top-Rope anchors.

The majority if not all routes, have bolted/chained anchors.

Most routes recognized as Trad, have remained trad and have not been peppered with bolts.

It also holds some interesting, hard sport and mixed routes including roofs and overhangs.

The main cliff section is located near a fair sized marsh and as a direct result, is subject to the quality and quantity of flying pests that can be commonly assumed.

There is a huge generational gap in the grading as a direct result of the first developments and more recent developments. So be objective and subjective in your route selections.

Newer developed routes, typically have a flat rock on at it's base with the name, grade and type of route written on it.

Getting There

From the Manitou Trail sign, hike in, straight, through a clearing for approx 5-15 mins, the cliff should be visible on the left. A switch-back down trail brings you straight up to the cliffs on the left.
