Upper San Juan Boulders

California > Los Angeles Basin > Santa Ana Mountains

Description

Great condensed area with lots of possibility. I have only been here twice, found some fun problems and wanted to post to gain interest.

Getting There

Park in the large parking lot across the street from the candy store. Adventure pass required. Enter the south west side of the San Juan Loop trail. Follow the trail into the campground. From here walk left towards the highway until you see the large drain pipe, I recommend crossing through here rather than the highway. Once through the pipe the bouldering starts and continues up the creek.

[Hide Comment] I hiked up this drainage a couple months ago to see if there was anything, I remember alot of the rock being very water polished and the only thing I took a liking to was the large overhanging arete that sits at the base of the drainage. Its hard to tell if it had been climbed or not, there are some great polished crimps at the base, and it looked as if some of the loose flakes had been broken off. I have yet to get back out there and try it. The bolt thats on the the flat slab is very interesting and couldnt figure out why it was placed there. Apr 5, 2013
