Description

Take a short walk up the trail, and you will notice a chasm begins to develop around the river where water-ice collects in many places.

Getting There

Exit 28 on NH route 93. Go east for a few miles until you come to a small parking lot on the right with signs for the Smarts Brook trail.

Nice photo. It looks nice and fat now. I think a forwards and backwards traverse would be a good exercise. It was a little thin when I went out back in early December. A traverse was not really possible yet (as you can see from the photos), but I was able to go up about 5 different ways. The "pillar" (sort of) with the broken foot was my last one, and definitely felt a little sketched out at the top. It was about an inch thick with water running behind it, and the top offs are sometimes a challenge when there is only wet moss and rock to work with. Jan 18, 2013
