Getting weather forecast...
DescriptionI really wanted to visit this area and find a "diamond in the rough" instead, it's just plain ROUGH.
The rock is secluded along a narrow road with very few parking options.
This area is an old quarry where granite was blasted and hauled out for construction purposes. Some foliage and loose dirt hang above the wall so watch yourself. A helmet is recommended. The rock quality isn't really that bad but the routes see very little traffic... loose blocks abound.
One my first trip I noticed a group of Macaques loitering nearby. These furry little things can be aggressive and are pretty curious about climbers. There have been stories of attacks on hikers, bikers, and children.
Watch for snakes in this area, weve found skins in the field and in a crack on the left of the crag. Most of the skins were small and thin but one was disturbingly large.
Getting ThereThe Bukit Timah Gun Club is the best landmark along Rifle Range Road. Park immediately after this gate but watch for soft ground along the shoulders.
Cross the road and join the well-developed hiking/biking trail and head up the short initial hill until it levels off. After about 400ft, look right for any sign of a path through the thick foliage covering the berm above the trail. Head up the short berm and cross the small field below the crag. The whole approach takes about 5 minutes depending where you park.
Note: If you drive past (or walk past) the Singapore Armed Forces range access sign on the road... you need to turn around and back-track 50ft.
