Description

This broad area is the northern foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains, rising SE of the town of Apple Valley from Grapevine Canyon in the SE, to Deep Creek hot springs to the SW, to Zeppelin Dome in the west. The main access roads are Bowen Ranch Road, Coxey Truck Trail (3N14) and for Zeppelin Dome, Japatal Road. Elevations are between 4,000 ft. at Zeppelin Dome to over 5,000 ft. at Butt Rock.

Getting There

Climbs in this section are generally accessed from the Town of Apple Valley by taking Central Road south to Ocotillo Road east, and then turning back south onto Bowen Ranch Road (dirt) and heading up into the hills.
