Description
This park is divided across the border of Hunterdon and Somerset counties. Climbing is allowed in Somerset but NOT Hunterdon, so make sure you are in the right part of the park!
Somerset has two boulder fields, see link to map below.
The park closes at dusk; therefore night climbing is not allowed. Please don't threaten access for everyone.
** Note from guidebook author: "All NJ climbing is limited until sunset. Night climbing in NJ on social media can result in a ticket." **
Getting There
415 E Mountain Rd, Hillsborough, NJ 08844
You'll see an entrance sign for the park which leads down a short road to the parking lot. Parking is free. From here, you can follow trails to each of the bouldering areas.
Guidebook
The Sourland Bouldering guidebook covers 166 problems from V0- to V11 in New Jersey's Sourland Mountain Preserve (a 2,900 acre nature reserve in Hillsborough and Montgomery townships) as well as Woodfield Reservation and the John Witherspoon Woods. Every single problem has a base photo and line to show you where the climb goes. This guide also includes hand drawn topos of the boulder fields, and GPS-enabled maps, so you'll be able to find your next project easily.
