Urban Assault

Texas > Austin Area > Barton Creek Greenbelt

Description

Urban Assault is a chossy limestone wall aprroximately 90ft high and is the highest wall in the Greenbelt. The wall is located on an open bend in the creek. Hot and exposed in the summer, it is a great cool weather climb. In the summer it gets few visitors with the exception of a few hikers and small groups of climbers headed to Gus Fruh.

Getting There

This wall is located on the east side of the creek on a bend between Gus Fruh and Seismic walls. The approach varies depending on entry point. Easiest access is the south office building entrance. From 71 head north on 360. As soon as you have turned onto 360 look right for a large office building. As you enter the office complex turn left and you will see the Barton Creek Greenbelt sign. From here follow the hiking trail right and hug the creek for approximately 10 minutes before it drops down onto the dry creek. Continue walking approximately 5 more minutes to Urban Assault

[Hide Comment] There are some stainless Petzl Long Life rappel anchors near the topout of Urban Assault that were placed by the UT Grotto cavers. It allows a nice 65 foot free rappel from the highest point on the overhanging cliff. It may look taller than 65, but I'm pretty certain we measured it with survey tape. :-D Oct 18, 2018
