Description

We found this area back in the early 2000's, around the same time that Seven Falls was found and developed. It has been nearly ten years since I have been back here, so it's hard for me to remember much about it. However, I do remember there were some decent outcrops, with a number of overhanging walls, on good quality rock. Maybe around a dozen problems? Maybe more? If the bouldering turns out to not be worthwhile, you can at least finish the hike up to the top of Swan Hill for some great views of the Connecticut River.

Hopefully, you'll be rewarded with something worthwhile. Definitely let me know what you find. Enjoy!

Getting There

Park at the Haddam Elementary School, located near the junction of Saybrook Road (RT. 154) and Killingworth Road (RT. 81). Follow the trail as shown in the overview map towards the rock outcrops. Follow the obvious trail until the trail forks. My memory is a bit hazy, but I want to say that you should follow the trail to the right for a bit and then cut uphill towards the outcrops once they become visible. Walk along the outcrops in both directions until you find something worthwhile! Enjoy!

If my memory is accurate, the best boulders/outcrops were just before getting to where the 'photo' icon is located on the map. I remember Austin Zinnser and I thinking there were some pretty sweet problems in the area, but we discovered it late in our senior year at Wesleyan and never spent much time developing it. I hope that someones finds something fun and worthwhile, and shares the info.
