Getting weather forecast...
DescriptionThe beautiful less explored neighbor of East Kelly Canyon. West Kelly Canyon offers quiet and diverse bouldering on the white Coconino Sandstone of Northern Arizona. Known for its incredible setting, W. Kelly is different from its sister because of its lesser known, taller and cleaner lines. Expect to explore for problems as well as bring extra pads for the tall, and at times scary test-pieces.
Please help keep this area pristine. Pack out yours and others trash.
As always do not climb after rain or snow. Allow 2-3 days to preserve the quality of the rock.
Fragile Sandstone: Don't Climb Wet Rock Details
Kelly Canyon is a sandstone climbing area and the rock is very fragile when wet. Be aware of recent weather and ask a local if you are unsure of conditions. Do not climb for at least a day following rainfall. Do not climb on rock that is visibly moist or seeping.
Getting ThereDrive South of Flagstaff on the 89A. Turn East onto FS Road 237. Drive for less than 1 mile until topography suggests you are near Pumphouse Wash. Follow any number of trails down to Pumphouse Wash. West Kelly Canyon is the obvious drainage that heads East from Pumphouse. Happy Exploring.
