DescriptionRick's Rocks offers a good selection of boulder problems on a number of outcrops that are scattered along the north and south edges of a drainage, all a short walk from the car.
The altitude and the variety of aspects means this is a good venue for warm summer days.
There are a lot of problems; tall and short, steep and slabby, but to find the good ones you will need to wander around to find them.
The scenery towards the eastern edge is quite stunning.
Getting ThereAbout 7 miles north of the Mammoth Lakes turnoff on Rt. 395 you pass a signed rest area on the left(west). Shortly after that turn right on the Owens River Road. Drive appox. 2 miles and turn left at Big Springs Campground (Road 2S04). At just over 2 miles you will pass the right turn to Clark Canyon. Continue along the road and at about 3 miles you start to climb up the grade. Near the top (3.5 miles) you see some boulders on the right and soon after it is possible to take a sharp right turn onto a short road to the parking area.
