The Central Eleuthera area consists of the climbing from the capital of Governor's Harbor to just south of Glass Window Bridge. It's a lot of area to cover but Eleuthera is 110 miles long with climbing potential on both coasts as well as the mainland. The established climbing areas on the Caribbean side are primarily from Gregory Town to Hatchet Bay (Alice Town on Google maps) and from James Cistern to Rainbow Bay on the Atlantic Side.

As with most areas of the island, the elements will vary depending on where you are, but you'll always feel secluded.

A note about the rock texture: The rock can be extremely sharp and/or brittle in places. Most vertical and overhanging faces are good texture are great for climbing, with the exception of rock right at the waterline. Ledges and the tops of cliffs are extremely sharp. Generally rock that looks very white is not as good and can be brittle (but not always). The orange rock is of better quality as water has run over it, smoothed out the edges, and created a more climber-friendly texture.

Fly to Governor's Harbour (GHB) and head north for approximately 30 minutes (to Gregory Town) or fly to North Eleuthera (ELH) and head south for 20 minutes (to Gregory Town). There is climbing on both sides of the island (Caribbean and Atlantic). On the Caribbean side, the bulk of the climbing is found between Hatchet Bay ( in south-central Eleuthera) all the way north of Gregory Town. It is just over 6 miles from Gregory Town to Hatchet Bay (Alice Town on Google Maps) along the Queen's Highway.

If you are not staying in a seaside rental with cliff access, you will need a boat or kayak to access the cliffs. You can put-in either in Gregory Town or Hatchet Bay for the Caribbean side. If you are looking for access to the Atlantic, it is best to travel south to James Cistern and there is a put-in point at James Point Beach. From there you will need to travel north (and west) along the island for access.
