As you hike up from GHSP you will pass a small cluster of boulders and enter a large grassy field which is where the Rhododendron "Gap" gets its name. Before the gap is the first , much smaller cluster of rocks forming a small "peak" which Feral Peak. Feral peak is a smaller crest of blocks and boulders with a few fun problems. Beyond the gap is the second, larger peak which is Rhododendron Peak. Rhododendron is large, complex, and has several lookouts. Beyond this is yet another grassy field and then you will see the third peak cluster which is Paradise Peak.

The Appalachian Trail meanders throughout, around, and nearby these three peaks and crests and allows for easy access once you arrive. There are a myriad of other side trails and pony paths that facilitate access to many boulders and faces. Take time to explore and climb on the many blocks and boulders and enjoy your time while you’re up here.

Hike up through the pony gate that separates the GHSP land from the MRNRA land. Once in the National Rec Area, follow the App Trail up to the high rocky peaks where you will find Rhododendron Gap. At the gap, behind you will be a lower bouldery crest peak that is Feral Peak, and a higher second peak called Rhododendron Peak. Beyond Rhodo peak is another grassy "gap" and the third peak called Paradise Peak.
