Description

Within short distance of Jaén capital there are numerous crags with many possibilities to choose from. The majority of rock is beautiful Andalucian limestone that at times can be rough on the hands but makes for amazing climbing. Summers can be terribly hot but there it’s still possible to climb if you know where you are going. Many crags are within a short distance of the city center and for that reason some crags (the castle) can become busy but its a rare occurrence. Jaén is a hidden gem for the climbing community in southern Spain but it’s becoming more and more popular as more and more people discover it’s possibilities. Within 30km of the city there are approximately 10-13 crags that holds some 700 or more routes combined.

Getting There

It is possible to fly into Madrid, Malaga or Granada airports and catch a train or bus to Jaén capital. It is in your best interest to rent a car at the Jaen train station, which will give you more options to climb in the many different crags around the city.
