Getting weather forecast...

The side of a blasted wall along railroad tracks. Not worth a long trip, but nice to stop by if you are in the area.

Getting There

From Interstate 89, take exit 15 and head east towards St Michael's college. After roughly a mile, turn left on to lime kiln road. Cross the bridge over the river and park in the parking lot. Walk back across the bridge, and then hike down to the railroad tracks (which also go under the bridge). Go north (right if facing downhill) and walk for a minute or so, and the wall will be on your right. Overall less than a 5 minute approach.

The climbs over the railroad tracks are all short and chossy, but good for getting a quick fix. If one were to look around they might even find a nice 5.8 sport route around nearby.... Apr 21, 2012
Wow. Are the bolts still there? Jun 11, 2012

They sure are, unless there used to be an anchor... (we just sling the tree up top). Thankfully I have never taken a fall on them, but I have bounce tested them and they seem solid. Jul 18, 2012
Anyone have any beta on the new route to the left of "lead route"? Pretty terrifying looking runout after the second bolt but a nice shiny pair of rings up there. Pro in the little crack beneath the downward flake/roof-ish thing? Apr 13, 2017
While I was living in Burlington I decided to develop this area beyond the original "lead route." There are now 4 sport climbs here. I wanted a place to go and get a few lead laps in before work that was in close proximity to Burlington with a short approach. Nothing is more than 40ft. All the climbs are belayed right from the train tracks which is technically owned by the rail road. If they catch you climbing they will kick you out and potentially call the cops. SO DO NOT MESS WITH THE TRAIN. If you hear a horn in the distance lower off and book it. The train passes usually twice a day (to and from the Burlington biomass power plant dropping off wood chips to burn).THE FIRST TRAIN FROM THE EAST IS USUALLY AROUND 11AM AND IT RETURNS AROUND 2-3PM. Please be respectful. Only climb here early in the morning or in the late afternoon. This area is small and I believe development is maxed out except for a few pretty shitty lead routes. It's not really worth the trip unless you're in the area lookin for a quick fix. Jul 12, 2017
