Routes in The Sideshow Boulder

Description

A large 16 ft. boulder with a few good climbs. Far enough off the trail to offer some seclusion.

Getting There

Start on CCC trail, turn left on Potholes trails, walk 300-400 ft., turn right and walk up to the start of the talus. It's a pretty obvious boulder as you walk up on it.

Perfect, definitely very obvious lines because that was exactly the three lines we cleaned. If you remember any names for the climbs let me know! Apr 11, 2012
I thought that looked familar EB! It was call the Diamond Boulder due to its shape. If I recall correctly Eric Z did the direct problem Paul is refering to. The other problems I remember traversed out left (sideshow)and one that went right and then up around the corner above a boulder. I'll have to get back up there an check it out. Thanks for bringing the boulder back to life. Apr 10, 2012

Thanks for the info EB I will have John change the FA :)

BTW now that I know this has been climbed, there is a really nice line directly up the middle that is tall and has a great landing. Probably around V5+, someone should go give it a shot, really cool. Otherwise John and I will get back to it eventually. Apr 10, 2012

Hey Paul, nice to see you guys add this overlooked bouder to the mix. I believe it was cleaned up by Eric Z. sometime around 2000-2001. we called it the pyramid bouder or something lame like that... Definitely worth an afternoon quick session as it may be one of the easiest approaches at DL. Sideshow seems a fitting name. Happy crankin'! Apr 9, 2012

We moved some dead pine trees to access the boulder and broke a few small holds. Comment if you know this was climbed :) Apr 8, 2012
