Description
Beautiful alpine adventure climbing offering an ambient view of the scenery along the western side of the Kancamagus highway. The cliff is south facing offering plenty of sun but which also makes for very soft ice during the warmer temperatures.
The mountain offers a number of alpine ice and mixed routes some yet to be climbed. If you decide to climb here, you are almost guaranteed the mountain for yourself as most climbers would not like to bother with the wilderness approach. For those who do not mind a winter bushwhack (or who are lucky enough to climb there after a trail has been blazed), the mountain offers excellent alpine ice and mountaineering.

The summer trail, however is impossible to follow in the winter, so you will have to "sniff" your way through dense pine trees and deep snow to the base of the cliff. The approach is heinous if you have to break trail for the first time. Once established, however, it is more moderate and enjoyable if you like brisk winter walks through the wilderness. Skis are optional. Snowshoes any bigger than the smallest size most likely will not work as the trees tend to be to dense in some places to allow comfortable travel with them.
Approximate time: 45min to 1h 15min
