Albert Heim

International > Europe > Switzerland

Description

The climbing venues near the Albert-Heim hut in the Furka pass are some of the best that Switzerland has to offer, offering an abundance of raw, steep alpine granite of impeccable quality in a breathtaking setting.

Topos for some routes can be found in the Plaisir Ost guidebook, and for others in the SAC guidebook.

Good bivy sites for Graue Wand and other areas can be found along the stream, west of the hut, e.g. at 46.6129409, 8.4533821.

Getting There

The approach begins from the Hotel Tiefenbach, on the east side of the the Furka pass. Park there or pay a nominal fee for use of a former military road that will gain you some elevation and cut your approach time by 15-20 minutes. There is a clear trailhead for the approach to the Albert-Heim hut.
