Description Suggest change

A decent crag in the Jura, notable mostly for nice southern exposure and easy access by train, making it a good cool-weather destination for single-pitch climbing. Over 30 routes (5c-8b), enough for a few visits.

Also known as Holzflue, the name of the hill itself. Since there are few easy routes and they are all pretty sandbagged, the riffraff seems to stay away.

Routes all around 20 m, and a 50m rope is sufficient.

Plaisir Jura has the topo, map, and beta for surrounding areas.

Getting There Suggest change

Train to Balsthal (55min from Zurich), walk up the hill past the church. You can see the crag from town, hard to get lost… There are a few hiking signs as well pointing to Holzflue. Cross over the stone bridge that gives the wall its name, and then head right up a short trail to access the wall, marked with a sign that says Stöckliweg. Parking can be had behind the church (although the sign says 'only for visitors to the cemetary).
