Getting weather forecast...

Description

This crag gets sun all day basically. It is not crowded at all, we saw no evidence of people climbing it lately. The rock is limestone, I am pretty sure.

Getting There

Park near the Yampa Vapor Caves, west of the Hot Springs pool. Head east on the path for about a mile, then go left on a steep spur road that branches off just before the main path crosses over I-70. After another quarter mile, just after the road veers east way from the drainage, find a subtle path that leads directly up the hill to the cave, or continue on to the water tower. From the water tower, follow a trail that contours below a short cliff band. There are several bolted slab routes and some short unclimbed possibilities before you reach the cave.

You can also access the Homestead, aka Cascade Creek, from the Puoux by hiking past the Fault Wall and making a loose scramble up and over the ridge and down to the water towers. It's about 20 minutes from the normal Puoux parking lot, if you're moving fast. Dec 20, 2011
